Highlights of New York Blitz

Last week was one busy week in New York. SFS Co-founders Bryan Hane and Bret Ridgway traveled to the Big Apple to take in three separate events. I estimate we walked at least 20 miles over a five day period. We even squeezed in a Mets game at Shea Stadium during the week.

First, we attended Fred Gleeck’s Publishing Seminar on Tuesday and Wednesday. We were fortunate to finally meet face to face long time SFS Client Bob Bly (www.bly.com). Bob’s a great client and as much of a pleasure in person as he has been to deal with on the phone over the last year. He was both extremely entertaining and informative during his presentation.

We also were able to hook up again with long time clients John Kremer (www.bookmarket.com) and, of course, the host Fred Gleeck. If you’re an author and haven’t yet invested in the newest edition of John’s book ‘1001 Ways to Market Your Books” then get on over to www.SFSBookstore.com and pick up your copy.

We also crossed paths with John on Thursday at Mark Victor Hansen’s ‘Mega Book New York’. We attended as guests of SFS client Rick Frishman, one of the co-hosts of the event. Over 300 people were in attendance including Rick and long time colleagues Alex Mandossian and David Hancock of Morgan James Publishing.

We capped the week off by making our first visit to the Book Expo at Javits Convention Center. What a zoo! I haven’t heard the official attendance numbers yet, but I’d guess somewhere between 25,000 and 35,000 or more were there. It was wall to wall people as we assessed the event for possible future participation as a vendor.
